The best way to understand the Masorti approach to worship is to attend a service. We hope you will contact one of the minyanim in Australia via the links on this site.
Our members will always strive to make a newcomer feel welcome and at home.
In essence, our siddur is the same as the Orthodox, with the same order of service and obligatory prayers. There are a few important changes to key prayers, in the main reflecting the equal status of women in the Masorti approach to our tradition.
So, if you are used to an Orthodox service, the content of a Masorti service will be very familiar.
The principal difference you will immediately notice is that men and women participate equally in the service. This is a major strength of our movement.
As a useful introduction to the most popular Masorti siddur - Sim Shalom - you might like to go to this site maintained by Rabbi Mark Zimmerman: Siddur Audio.
It is an excellent resource and provides audio clips of significant amounts of the Shabbat, Festival and daily services.
We look forward to meeting you.
